School of Music

WELCOME TO THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC

At MTSU, music is more than a field of study. It is a shared commitment to artistic excellence, curiosity, and community. Our students join a vibrant environment where performance, scholarship and research, and creative exploration come together every day. Whether you hope to perform, teach, compose, conduct, or work in the music industry, you will find a place here to grow as both a musician and an individual. Our faculty includes accomplished performers, educators, and scholars who guide students through rigorous study while encouraging curiosity and collaboration. Through private lessons, classroom study, ensembles, and mentorship, students build strong artistic and intellectual foundations that prepare them for a wide range of musical paths. The community that forms here often extends far beyond graduation. Our alumni teach in schools and universities, perform in orchestras and professional ensembles, work throughout the music industry, and lead musical life in communities across the country and beyond. Their work reflects the values and preparation they developed during their time at MTSU.

The MTSU School of Music is a community that cares deeply about the work of music-making. It is, quite simply, a place where every note counts.
